2008 Beijing Olympics: Rude Chinese fans?

I was watching the finals for woman's individual archery between South Korea and China. Why wasn't anything done when Chinese fans were jeering with "Boos" and by blowing whistles when Korean woman was shooting? I heard they werent' allowed to bring in whistles or make noises like that when atheletes are trying to concentrate and shoot. And in the Badminton match.. It was a chinese judge who kept giving Korean foul or something when they were serving;;; I heard it was rare for it to even happen once in a game but it was given 5 times when it was clearly not deserved.. If it's so clear they are being unfair, why isn't anything being done? and I dont dislike China or anything, I'm just curious.

  1. who knows how they can get away with it ? i think if other countrys ran the games like this there would be an almighty uproar say if the uk did in 2012 we would be judged by others and by ourselves even more so , its a strange planet aint it ?

  2. Yes, I'm been wondering why does when today in female individual gymnastics when Nastya Liukin was about to start her presentation, the audience were all the time doing the noise against her, to distract her (I guess), but she won anyways.

It's always like this, my dear friend, people who are ignorant (those fans and jury) instead of represent the best of them, represent how in truly people can be rude and mean to guests. It doesn't matter, the most important for an athlete to have concentration on his/her work and just ignore people who wish him/her bad.

  3. Because pretty much all the officials are chinese

  4. at the guy that said two koreans got caught doping...are you referring to the NORTH Korean and Vietnamese?

  5. It's just a psychological manner of winning.

  6. common sense man

    they run the games!

  7. Dominance mentality!!!

  8. Are you insinuating that the Chinese are bad sportsmen and are biased towards their own? How dare you! You'll be telling me there's no such thing as Santa next. Wont you?

  9. You're probably falling prey to confirmation bias.  If you watch the final between Zhang Juan Juang and the South Korea archer again, you'll see that the fans only messed the South Korean up on the first shot, and she still shot a 9.  The announcers obviously proceeded to try to get everyone to be courteous to the archers, both in English and in Chinese.

If you watched the men's doubles badminton quarterfinals match today, you'll see the Chinese pair got called for an incredible four service violations because they were serving sideways.  Four service violations perhaps happens in a calendar year, not in a single match.  In fact, they were up against a South Korean pair, so this could be the match you're referring to, just forgetting that the wrong side was getting called for the violations.

  10. Earlier today, 2 Korean athletes were found doping, i guess it wasn't only the chinese you saw booing though.

As for why the judges did that, who knows. But i did see close up views from the camera crew and to me they did seem to foul, whether it was "rare" or not, it's all probabilities, doesn't mean it won't happen.
