I am considering one of these two cars for purchase in about 2 weeks time. They both cost pretty much the same (within $ 500 of each other) and they both pretty lease for the same price (within $ 6.00 per month of each other). I know the Accord holds its value much better and I know that the Altima has the CVT (continuously variable transmission) which is better. Other than that I drove both vehicles and they seem to accelerate, brake, handle and feel the same. I found the transmission much smoother in the Altima due to the fact that it does not need to change gears due to the CVT technology. I found the Accord had a little more room in the back seat though. What do you think? and why?

  1. Accord.Better lookin',better qaulity, better reputation. And as you pointed out they hold their worth better.Hope that helped and good luck.:)salesman are sharks.

  2. i like the look of the Altima better, plus I like Nissan better...

I do think that you would probably be happy with either car though

  3. The Accord has been reviewing better. If I were you I'd go used and get a lightly used Infiniti G35 coupe. It's like the big brother of the Altima coupe and it's a better car in every way.

  4. The Accord will have better residual value and it has a better history than the Altima.

Like the Accord, the Altima is very nice and is well rated car, but Nissan needs to prove that the CVT is reliable (they haven't done that). Many other manufacturers have tried it and failed. It's just not as reliable as a regular transmission.

I definitely think the Altima is great car, but if this was going to be my car, I would feel a little more comfortable with the  Accord.
