2008 Olympics and Controversy over Underage Gymnasts?

Question

Should the United States contest the fact that the Chinese Gymnasts are underage which makes them ineligible for any Medal?

It is obvious that these girls are under age and they should be investigated. What do you think. Serious answers ONLY!!!!

Yes, there is no way those little girls are 16 or 17, I would say 11 or 12 is more likely. But, while it is against the rules, and what some people would call "cheating", I think it isn't a horrible thing that they are under aged. Think about it: These girls are taken at age 3 from their families and friends to go to a special gymnastics school. They train every day, almost all day. And from age 3, do you know how many times they see their parents? Once. Think about it: Only seeing your parents one time every year... when you're a toddler. These young girls have worked very, VERY hard to be in the Olympics, what's a few years?

The US team didn't deserve the medal anyways so they need to just let it go.  They messed up and crumbled under pressure.  Yes they were underage but it's not like the US team deserves the Gold or should even pursue that matter.  Though the documents are probably faked, China's government backed them to be legitimate.  What can you really do at this point?  The US team's coach is only mad because our government won't issue fake passports so they can use underage gymnasts.  I say let it go and the US team needs to prove themselves in the individual events.

I think this whole situations is absolutely ridicules!!!!!!! There is no way in h**l that those girls are 16!!! You're right, the two of them still have teeth coming in! They have such young faces! It's CRAZY! And people have found Chinese websites that confirm that one of the girls was 13!!! It makes me so freakin pissed!!! The rules are there for everyone!!! I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that somebody grows some brains and realizes that those little girls are not 16 and therefor have no right to compete. They need to be disqualified! I think it's such a disgrace to the olympics! How disgraceful it is that they have to cheat to win!

I just want to know why some of them have a couple teeth missing? Also how one girls birthday in Jan 1, 1992 the exact date she needs to be to qualify along with all the other speculation and documents saying she is 14. I understand they are good and better than the USA but I do believe that is cheating. If they would have been of age and won the gold I would congratulate them. Anyway its just gymnastics. We kick their *** in Swimming, Basketball, Volleyball, Track, etc..

Not even in the slightest...this whole pressing and pressing of the issue is making the US to be a bunch of whiners and complainers...even if all of it is true...do you want our team to win because of default, instead of because they earned it?  We didn't have our best meet...let it go already...it's life and it's sport.  A silver medal is not a bad thing ya know.

i completely agree that they LOOK underage, but i have many asian friends who are in college yet look about 13 or 14. besides, underage or not, usa had a chance at the gold. if china hadnt won gold im sure people wouldnt complain as much. i say everyone just drop the topic and stop bashing china.

why cant you americans just live with the fact that you were beaten fair and square , the chinese and the american gymnasts were all brilliant, and the fact remains that the IOC will not let anyobdy compete in the olympics without sufficant proof of age and a range of other things.

usa still only put on a silver performance even if the chinese cheated or not, usa had its chances to win the gold stop blaming the opponents for the mistakes they made only when the chinese won the gold did YA olympics section blow up

Anything that gives a team an unfair advantage is cheating period.  They would investigate us and should if we were doping as our form of cheating.
