2008 Olympics in Bejing, China....but what about the pollution?

China has been bending over backward to make Bejing appear to be a modern, and very advanced city to Western Eyes.

"Loosing face" is a BIG deal for China. China knows they will be flooded with thousands (maybe millions) of guests from other countries, and worst of all cameras, and video cameras that will take tales, pictures, and video clips back to other countries to be played over and over again. China does not want ANY imberrasing video or pictures to be shown over and over again for the world to view.

Chinda can do a great deal to "modernize" their cities to Western eyes....but there's nothing that can be done about the pollution that is so thick it makes the air a heavy brown hazy you could slice with a knife. China knows perfectly well their pollution will forever be a part of every 2008 Olympic picture.

Would you believe China, a communist country has a sollution? They are going to shut down every single factory....so the air will clear.

  1. Sounds similar to their solution for Christians... Tell of how great they are with religion, but I know from personal relations that behind this, there is great persecution of Christians.

Sure, they shut the pollution off for the Olympics, but that doesn't fix anything.  Just makes it possible for people to turn a blind eye.

  2. Don't imagine things! You will be amazed to see how the Chinese manage the show. They  have proved time and again their superiority in every field.Let's hope the show will be a  thundering success

  3. There are an awful lot of people that live and work in Bejing everyday of their lives.  I think it gets a lot of press in the rest of the world because China is communist.  I'm sure they have a pollution problem with all those people.  But look at Denver or LA.  There aren't that many people there, but you can easily see the smog floating around everywhere.  You can taste it in the air.  Would China report that?  You bet your olympic tickets they would.  Just like we are reporting their pollution problem.

Fact is, this will be the first olympics in a long time that all the athletes won't be all roided up.  That will play a bigger role than the pollution.

  4. Besides the dirty air, the are other thing going on:

    # Olympic pigs … the CCP decide to raise pigs fitted for the foreign Olympics athletes.  The pigs are raised in a clean environment and fed unpolluted diet.  The USA is shipping tons of pork to China to feed the US athletes

    # Fresh Water … Beijing is short on fresh water due to severe pollution.  The CCP is quickly building pipes from nearby water reservoirs in the Heibei province, taking the only resource that the poor farmers rely upon.

    # Athlete training ... many countries send the athlete in Japan to continue physical training.  Japan now stopped importing the poisoned pot stickers from China.

    # Saving face ... The CCP is bulldozing many people's house without decent compensation around Beijing.  Many old style estate were destroyed.  Months ago, painters were sent out to spary the dry weed on the ground to make the area look nice and green,

    # Security ... The CCP made a black list banning more than  47 categories of groups from visiting Beijing, including Falun Gong practitioners, human rights activists, Tibetians, citizens with grievances, reporter without borders, poor farmers, ...etc.   In the meantime, the CCP has arrested many more Falun Gong practitioners around Beijing and nearby area to secure the 'safety'.

Please consider boycotting the Beijing Olympic Game to help the Chinese people in China, and join the HRTR, Human Rights Torch Relay, nearby your city.

  5. I like the idea. More people play basket ball and speak english then live in the United States.

  6. Pollution is a result of Industrialization.  England went through in the early 1900s and so did U.S.  The problem is that China is having a major problem striking for a balance between economical development and pollution.  Because of the pressue created by Olympic, hopefully it will raise the awareness by the government and the people the need to change.  The Chinese central governement is NOT the only one at fault here.  The provincial governement usually choose economic over environment as well.  That needs to change.

  7. well if only they didn't have such a large reliance on coal and fossil fuels or else this would not be a problem from the beginning plus i would think haveing a very large population would not help the current crises their country is facing because that would only put strain on the supply of electircity
