2008 Super Bowl loss continues to nag New England Patriots’ Tom Brady – NFL News Update
The New England Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady has admitted that the Jets loss to the New York Giants back in 2008 still continues to trouble him.
Brady is unable to watch highlight of the Super Bowl game which the Giants won to deny the Patriots their quest for a perfect season.
Giants have been a constant source of worry for Brady as he failed to muster up a strong show against them this season as well.
Week 9 of this season saw the Giants outsmart the Patriots 24-20 once again. The Patriots were guilty of committing four turnovers which cost them the game.
To make matters worse for the quarterback, was the fact that he forfeited three of those turnovers, two interceptions and one fumble. Brady thus bore the responsibility for the loss sustained by the Patriots.
About two weeks later, the Patriots would be facing the New York Giants in the Super Bowl game event.
Patriots have been faring much better all along until it comes to facing the Giants who not only handed them a defeat in 2008, but in this season too.
The Patriots will surely be looking to equal the score but that seems little of a possibility considering Brady’s recent performance.
The Patriots have done well in recovering from the week 9 loss in which they were held to their season’s lowest point score of 20. They have rebounded from the loss to win ten straight games.
However, Brady was quite inconsistent in his performance against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game.
Brady threw two interceptions in the game as he completed just 22 of 36 passes for 236 yards, although Brady saved his team by plunging into a 1-yard bold touchdown dive in the fourth quarter of the game which helped them take
the lead.
Brady on his part denies that the Ravens game will have any impact on the Super Bowl game but one thing is sure for certain and that is he continues to be inflicted by the 2008 loss to the Giants.
"As time goes on, I still can't watch highlights from that game, that's just the way it is," he said. "You get to the end, and we had a great opportunity there and really squandered it because we didn't play our very best."
It remains to be seen whether Brady will be able to rise up to the occasion on Monday and have his revenge for the 2008 Super Bowl defeat as he looks forward to face the Giants.
"I can't wait, I'm excited. I really enjoyed yesterday's win," Brady said.
Brady is quite confident that the team can learn “lessons” from their past defeat, saying they would watch the week 9 game several times.
