2008 olympic gymnastics gala? who do they pick?

so i just watched the gymnastics gala for the olympics, and they only had like 6 people perform. shawn johnson, nastia liukin, johnathen horton, that german guy, and that chinese guy. what or decides that they go to perform and nobody else?

i believe the ppl that won medals get to perform. i believe more performed but may have not been as good. usually on recorded performances they show the americans and other ppl who really well.

I think it's when they earn a medal in the individual events they get to preform. NBC only showed a small portion of it. Beth Twiddle (uneven bars), Chen Yibing (Rings), Huang Xu (High bar), He Kexin (uneven bars) also preformed. They also had rythmic gymnastics preform too. Hopefully NBC would post the whole gala show online.
