I was supposed to recieve my refund through the mail and it has been well over the expected time and it has still not come. A friend of mine explained a couple of weeks ago that since I was recieving it through the mail it would take longer. I got a notice in the mail about a week ago regarding my stimulus payment and it said my payment had been delayed for review, that if I didnt recieve the payment with in 60 days of the notice to call the irs, so I went to irs.com and tracked my refund and it's status also was being delayed for review. because it is sunday I cant call until tomorrow and was wondering if you could possibly give me a quicker answer to why it has been delayed for review. thanks so much!

  1. the irs is taking an extra 2 to 3 weeks on all take refunds via mail and also the new stimulus is going to depend on the last digit of your social number. they are currently giving out only stimulus payments for social security numbers that are from1-4 right now so if you have a social number that is after that you should exspect it withink 6-8 weeks but they are havinf a backup in the system god knows why so they said if you are within the 1-4 social security numbers that they will be delayed and extra 2 weeks! hope that helps you can call them tomorrow but they will not really tell you anything you have to go in and show valid id to have them tell yout the exact time you will get it and if they do giv eyou a time i would count and extra 10 days on top of what they tell you

  2. The IRS is taking a close look at your return because something is incorrect or questionable.  It could be an improper filing status, exemption, deduction, or credit.

Calling them before the 60 days is up is probably a waste of time.  You will have to wait.  They will be in touch.

  3. Something about your return apparently looked out of the ordinary so a person will be looking at it.  You might be asked to provide more information to prove that the info on your return is correct.

  4. Many reasons for the delay.  An audit or you owe college loans.  Sometimes it is the accountant who did the tax that is being investigated and any of his/her clients will have their returns looked at by an irs auditor.

  5. the 2007 Federal Refund is being delayed due to you not filing all  your tax returns, or not reporting all wages on your tax return. THE IRS WEBSITE IS: www.irs.gov NOT irs.com.

Is there not a phone number on the letter you can call.

IF IRS is holding the refund and the Stiimulus really sounds like you will receive a LTR 2825C asking for some unfiled tax returns from 2002 thru 2006.

Contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040 if you don't have any other phone number
