I am graduating with the class of 2009 and I am confused on what I should do now to prepare myself for college. I am studying to take the SAT/ACT in Sept-Oct range. But I am at a loss of scholarships, etc. I live in Florida, and I am cofused about scholarships. I have accounts with fastweb, brokescholar, fastaid, collegefunds, finaid.org, and scholarshipexperts.com. I am of Asian and Hispanic decent.

  1. Apply for scholarships at the schools you are interested in.   Also, ask your guidance counselor if they know of any scholarships.  Considering you are biracial, you have a decent chance, provided you are not from an upper-middle class socioeconomic background.

Start with the booklet that I'm attaching below. It's published by the US Department of Education, and it's called "Funding Education Beyond High School: The Introduction to Federal Student Aid".

A lot of your questions will be answered by this booklet - and it's a great read for your mom and dad, too, so be sure to pass it on. Otherwise, you're all going to wind up confused!

When you've had a chance to read through this guide, take a few minutes to look at some of the questions and answers here in this Financial Aid topic at Yahoo! Answers. I think you'll discover that there are a lot of common themes to these questions and answers - many of the same questions are asked over and over again, and there are several very helpful contributors who have taken the time to share their knowledge and experience with college hopefuls like you. I think you'll find a lot of what you're asking has been covered in just the last few days.

If you still have questions, be sure to post here again, and I'm sure one of the great contributors here will help you out.

    Good luck!
