2010/2011 season summary – Barcelona (Part 5)
With both the teams squaring off in the first leg, Barcelona were the favourites to win the match. The match was scheduled in Santiago Bernabeu and Jose Mourinho suffered his first ever home loss in the European competition since joining Porto as head coach.

in the game as most first team players were benched.
The previous 33 match unbeaten record was set by Real Sociedad and they had the opportunity to keep it to themselves. Barcelona lost their first ever Spanish La Liga game in 32 fixtures and the first time they lost throughout the season was against Hercules when the newly promoted side won 0-2 at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona faced Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League. The return leg took place in Barcelona’s home ground, the Nou Camp. The last time the two sides played at the Nou Camp, Barcelona won the match 5-0 and so they were favourites to
win yet again.

Barcelona were to face the English Premier League Champions Manchester United in the final match of the UEFA Champions League. The Catalans were to travel to Wembley and play the UEFA Champions League final on 28th May 2011.
Barcelona were tagged as favourites to win the UEFA Champions League and later they were also tagged as the best team in the world. Even the opponents, Manchester United hailed Barcelona as one of the best sides in the world as they were the side who managed
to win against them back in 2008/2009.
