2010/2011 season summary – Chelsea (Part 2)

Ramires was Chelsea’s last signing before the Premier League started for them on 15thAugust 2010. Chelsea’s first fixture was against West Bromwich Albion at the Stamford Bridge and the Blues started their season with a mind blowing performance.
The Premier League Champions won their first league game 6-0 with their star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 scoring a hat trick. It was for the second time in a row that Drogba scored a hat trick at the Stamford Bridge and the last time he did so was when they won
the Premier League title and he scored three goals on the last day of the 2009-2010 season.
The six goals were shared amongst three players. With Drogba scoring a hat trick, the Frenchman Florent Malouda scored a brace while the English midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 also added one goal to his name.
Chelsea faced their next opponents in the next week. The Blues were to face Wigan Atheltic and it was for the second time in the Premier League that Chelsea won the match 6-0. They were off to a very bright start and with this score line they took their
goal difference to 12-0 in two games.
While being away from home, Chelsea showed that they were in it to win it. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 came on during the
second half and managed to net his first goal for Chelsea to make it 6-0 for the London side.
On the other hand, Manchester United drew their fixture against Fulham and Chelsea were the only side who won their first two fixtures in the English Premier League.
On 26th August, the UEFA Champions League group stage draws were taken out. Chelsea were to face the French side Marseille along with Spartak Moscow and MSK Zilina. It looked to be a relatively easier group as Marseille were the only team to beat
in order to qualify for the next round.
On 15th September 2010, Chelsea began their UEFA Champions League campaign. The Premier League side had to face an easy opponent in the shape of MSK Zilina. Chelsea won the game 4-1 away from home.
It took Chelsea only 13 minutes to make impact and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 added a double to his name to make the score line3-0 for the Premier League Giants.
As the second half started, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 scored his first goal of the UEFA Champions League and Chelsea’s fourth of the game. However, Tomas Oravec scored a late consolation to make the final score line 4-1 in favour of Chelsea.
