2010/2011 season summary – Chelsea (Part 3)
Chelsea were unbeaten in the season till 22nd September but then they were beaten by Newcastle United in the Carling Cup.
Newcastle travelled to the Stamford Bridge and Chelsea had the home ground and the home crowd advantage; however, the match was won 4-3 by Newcastle.
Newcastle played an extraordinary game and took a 3-1 lead over the London Giants. However, the French striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 made a sudden impact and scored a quick brace to make the score line 3-3. Later, Shola Ameobi scored during the injury time to help
his side win the Carling Cup fixture.
Three days later, Chelsea suffered their second loss and this time it was in the Premier League. Chelsea lost the match against Manchester City as their captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez scored the only goal of the game near the hour mark. With this defeat, Chelsea’s
100% record in the English Premier League came to an end.
On 3rd October 2010, Chelsea had to face a tough opponent in the shape of Arsenal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were definitely the team to beat as they are also a club from London and are a part of the “big four” of the Premier League. Chelsea won this difficult
fixture 2-0 at the Stamford Bridge.

the top spot in the Premier League points table.
On 16th October 2010, Chelsea faced Aston Villa away from home and it was for the second time straight that Chelsea failed to score away from home. The match ended in a goalless draw but it did not affect Chelsea’s position on the Premier League
points table. This was because Manchester United drew their fixture against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea remained on top of the table with a five point lead over the second placed United.
Chelsea heard the first big news as November kicked off. The London club won 4-1 against Spartak Moscow at home. With this win Chelsea managed to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
The first half ended in a goalless draw but with the second starting, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 decided to put some pressure on the opposition and the results were devastating. Five goals were scored in the second half while four of them were in Chelsea’s favour.

brace and these two goals were his first at the Stamford Bridge.
Later, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikita-Bazhenov-c27907 scored a consolation goal for Spartak Moscow to make the final score line 4-1. Nikita Bazhenov’s goal against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge was the first goal they conceded at home since 956 minutes in all competitions.
