2010/2011 season summary – Chelsea (Part 4)
After winning against Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Champions League, Chelsea assured their qualification in the knockout stages of the European competition.

Within three days, Wilkins’ firing caused havoc. Chelsea suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of a mid-table side Sunderland. The London side lost their second game in a span of one week. It was for the second time that Chelsea lost a home game 0-3 since

all three points from this difficult fixture.
On the other hand, Manchester United won their weekend clash against Wigan Athletic and they managed to shorten the gap on the points table to only one point.

their group in the UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea played their last fixture of the year 2010 against Bolton Wanderers. The match was played at the Stamford Bridge and with Chelsea winning the game 1-0 it meant that it was their first win in six English Premier League games.

Wolves shockingly won the game 1-0, leaving Chelsea fifth in the Premier League points table. In the last seven weeks, Chelsea had managed to drop
from the first position to the fifth position in the English Premier League.
Four days later, Chelsea started their FA Cup campaign with a thrashing to Ipswich Town. The match was scheduled to take place at the Stamford Bridge and Chelsea won 7-0 in their home ground.
Chelsea finally picked up some form and after defeating Bolton Wanderers 0-4 at the Reebok Stadium, Chelsea saw their third consecutive league win.
