2010 ATP World Tour Finals, Briton Andy Murray annihilates Sweden's Robin Soderling

Ranked no. 5 in the World, Britain's Andy Murray got through with Swede Robin Soderling thrashing him 6-2 in the first set and 6-4 in the set to follow.

“I played very smart tennis today and even when obviously it was getting tough in the second set, a lot of long rallies, I was on the defensive quite a lot, stuck to my tactics well and managed to come through”, said Murray.

In addition, the professional stated, “Second set I had to do a lot of running. Didn’t always go for the lines. I hit a lot down to his feet, just made him play a lot of uncomfortable shots”.

Murray proved to be the stronger player throughout the match as he faced only one break point during the match and converted three out of six break points of his own. On the contrary, Soderling had a mere five forehand winners and committed twelve unforced
errors with his dominating shots.

Soderling stated, “He was defending really well. I was hitting the ball pretty hard sometimes, trying to be aggressive. Every time I came to the net, he came up with a really good shot. “First set was not very good. I wasn’t really there. I think second set
was better. But he played better than me today”.

Shortly after Murray defeated Soderling, Spain's Carlos Moya was brought on to court to honour his career as a tennis professional. For the first time ever, Moya came onto court wearing a suit, instead of a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Aged 34, Carlos was
formerly ranked no. 1 in the World and has a grand slam title to his name.

"It’s always great when people remember you, even when you’re not at the top”, said Moya.  Carlos got through with compatriot Alex Corretja, beating him 6-3 in the first set, 7-5 in the second and 6-3 in the deciding third set to clinch the 1998 French Open
title.

Moya summed up his press conference earlier this week stating, "I'll keep on with my gym in Mallorca. I have a sports business and I'll dedicate more time to my wife, my daughter and my family. But I'll definitely miss tennis. Thanks to everyone for all these
years. We'll see each other soon, I don't know where but I hope it's soon".
