2010 ATP World Tour Finals: Spaniard Rafael Nadal annihilates Czech Tomas Berdych to make it through to semi finals
Currently ranked no. 1 in the World, Spain's Rafael Nadal battled it out against Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic to make a place for himself in the semi finals of the 2010 ATP World Tour Finals. Rafa initiated the match with
a 7-6 (3) win and went on to take the second set 6-1.
Eliminating Berdych from the competition, Nadal finished on top in group A and will be opposed by Briton Andy Murray in the semi finals of the tournament. During the match played between himself and Berdych, Rafa got into an argument
with the chair umpire, as he believed that the Czech was given a point that in his opinion should have been reviewed.

“In my opinion, the umpire was wrong but maybe it was me. I don’t know,” stated Nadal. Nevertheless, it was the Spaniard who came out victorious at the end of the day, improving his round-robin score to 3-0.
Prior to facing Berdych, Nadal exclaimed, "I won two important matches in the round-robin but I am not qualified. I could meet with no-one in the semi-finals, I could meet with the island of Mallorca in the semi-finals and I could
meet with Federer or everyone in the other group. I have to think the minimum is to win a set to be in the semi-final, so it's not going to be easy against Tomas."
In spite of the fact that Rafa and Berdych's head-to-head record is 8-3, most recently defeating the Czech at the 2010 Wimbledon championship, Nadal was not taking things easy; and rightfully so, considering the fact that Tomas
gave Rafael a tough time as far as the first set was concerned.
Earlier to opposing Nadal, Berdych stated, "I think for me that's the best schedule for this week, to play maybe the last match of the season against the world number one, or if I can do well then to beat the number one and have
a chance to play more in this tournament." Unfortunately for Tomas, Nadal ended his reign to eliminate him from the tournament.
