2010 BNP Paribas Masters: Andy Roddick canters through to round three
A number of professionals inclusive of America's Andy Roddick made it through to the third round of the 2010 BNP Paribas Masters. Seeded no. 8 at the tournament, Roddick was opposed by Finland's Jarkko Nieminen in the second round
of his draw. Andy initiated the match with a 6-1 win in the first set and followed it up with a 6-4 win in the second.

Prior to being eliminated from the tournament, Nieminen defeated Belgium's Xavier Malisse in the first round match played between the two. Malisse lost 6-4 and 6-3, marking a straight set win for Jarkko. Additionally, upon sending the Finnish man home, Roddick
will face Latvia's Ernests Gulbis in the third round of the championship.

In the words of Andy himself, “I’m not allowed to complain about slow courts and fast courts,” said Roddick in jest, “so when they put a fast court down I figured I might as well take advantage of it. It’s something I’m pretty comfortable on and I felt good.”

Gulbis made it through to the first round right after getting rid of the no. 9 seed, namely Russia's Mikhail Youzhny. The Russian lost the first set 4-6 prior to retracting from the tournament and retiring from the match due to a back injury. Earlier, Ernests
eliminated Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela in the first round match of his draw. Luckily for the Latvian, similar to his second round match, Ignacio retired due to an injury shortly after losing the first set 6-7.
Additionally, the Czech Republican, Tomas Berdych qualified for the third round upon defeating Frenchman Florent Serra 6-3 and 6-1 in the second round of the tournament. Seeded no. 5 at the tournament, Berdych will be facing Russia's
Nikolay Davydenko in the following round. Davydenko made it through after thrashing Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci 6-3 and 6-0.
Amongst those who have been defeated was also America's John Isner. Frenchman Michael Llodra thrashed Isner 6-3 and 6-4 to be opposing the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the third round of his draw. Djokovic got through with
Argentina's Juan Monaco beating him 6-4 and 6-3 to proceed at the 2010 BNP Paribas Masters. In addition, one can quite possibly expect another Djokovic-Federer final as far as the championship final goes, if the two manage to make it that far.
