2010 BNP Paribas Masters: Second Round Qualifiers Recap - Men's Singles
Amongst a number of talented professionals who have made it through to the third round of the 2010 BNP Paribas Masters was also Czech Republic's Radek Stepanek. The unseeded professional annihilated Spain's Nicolas Almagro defeating
him 7-6 in the first set and 6-4 in the second set to advance to the next round. Stepanek will be opposed either by the no. 1 seed, namely Switzerland's Roger Federer or Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the third round of the tournament.
Seeded no. 11, Austria's Jurgen Melzer eliminated Colombia's Santiago Giraldo in the second round match played between the two. Giraldo was defeated 6-3 and 7-6, two sets in a row to be sent home. Furthermore, Melzer will be facing
either Italy's Fabio Fognini or Spain's David Ferrer in the following round.
Britain's Andy Murray triumphed over Argentina's David Nalbandian beating him 2-6, 6-4 and 6-3 in the second round of his draw to proceed to the third. Murray will go head to head with Croatia's Marin Cilic in the third round of
the championship. Cilic deleted Uzbekistan's Sergiy Stakhovsky in the second round match played between the two to advance at the tournament. Stakhovsky was beaten 6-4, 4-6 and 6-3.
On the contrary, Frenchman Gael Monfils got through with Germany's Benjamin Becker thrashing him 7-6 and 6-4 to mark a straight set win. Monfils will face the no. 6 seed, Spain's Fernando Verdasco in the next round. Verdasco defeated
wild card entrant, France's Arnaud Clement 3-6, 6-3 and 6-0 to make a place for himself in the next round.

Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka got rid of Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic crushing him 6-4 in the first set and 6-4 in the set to follow to make it through to the third round. Wawrinka will be facing either Sweden's Robin Soderling or Frenchman Gilles Simon in the
following round.

Receiving a bye into the second round, Soderling will be opposed by Simon. Gilles, on the other hand, defeated Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev in the first round to proceed to the second. Golubev successfully bagged the first set 6-3. However, it was all downhill
for Andrey from here on as he lost the second set 4-6 and the deciding third set 3-6 to be knocked out of the tournament.
