2010 Beach Volleyball National Championship Canada- Gold, silver and bronze medal winners
The Canadian National Championship completed its run from 27th-29th August 2010. The event featured six different competitions among 14U, 16U, 18U, 21U, 24U and senior category. The different age groups approached the scene and contested for triumph in their respective classes. Unluckily, the 24U competitions were cancelled due to the lack of participants.
Men’s section
In men’s senior competition, Martin Reader and Chaim Schalk snatched the gold medal victory on Sunday at the Canadian Beach Volleyball Championship in Toronto, Canada. They took on Richard Van Huizen and Christopher Redmann of Toronto in the final showdown of the championship. The final match covered its length in only two sets. Reader and Schalk posted 21-14 and 26-24 to claim the gold medal victory.  
First set
The first set started on a high note. Reader and Schalk broke the ice by scoring their first point on starting serve from opposite side. They seemed confident about their game and attained consistency in the game. Reader/Schalk hit the perfect shots in opponents’ court.  Their athletic play put huge influence on Huizen and Redmann. They were able to pick up a lead with fair margin of points.
Reader and Schalk maintained a good balance in their game and continued with the same speed. They won the first set by posting 21-14.
Second Set
In the second set, Huizen and Redmann hit back and returned the spikes with power. They found their feet in the 2nd set and also got advantage of Reader/Schalk’s illegal shots. Somehow the points shifted in a methodically manner for both teams. Each of them tried to stay ahead in the game. Finally, the set advanced to the latter half and Reader/Schalk declared their authority. The second set ended at 26-24 with a lead of just two points but it earned huge break-through for the Reader/Schalk as they successfully clinched gold.
In the same category of matches, Matt Zbyszewski and Josh Binstock battled with Maverick Hatch and Jessi Lelliott for the bronze medal. The victorious team posted 2-1 (20-22, 22-11, and 15-11) win over the opponents. Maverick Hatch and Jessi Lelliott settled for the fourth-place.
 
Women’s section
Likewise, women beach volleyball stars of Canada also stepped forward and created a buzz in the competition. It was an incredible final match where Maloney and Bansley ousted Liz Cordonier and Jaime Broder.
First set
The first set saw many foul shots in the begging, as teams took a little time to settle down. Maloney/Bansley developed good co-ordination between them and scored consecutive points. The opposite side was shaken by powerful tips delivered by Maloney/Bansley. At the same time, they saved points by involving good digs on the sand. The deceptive signals on the back also helped them score extra points. Maloney/Bansley finished the first set with 21-16 victory.
Second set
 Liz Coronier and Jaime Broder made a great come-back in the game in second set. The retaliated with penetrating the cruising spikes and bombarded Maloney/Bansley with a rally of points. The game took a different colour as Liz/Jaime earned the commanding position and created lead. With a margin of five points, they declared second-set win over Maloney and Bansley.
Third Set
Since the score was levelled, so the game entered into third phase. The final crucial set put a thrilling sensation in their blood and tempted both pairs to keep the ball in motion. Ultimately, the focal point arrived and Maloney/Bansley put an end to third set at 15-10. The match victory was claimed by Maloney/Bansley.
In third-place competition, Marie-Christine Mondor and Melanie Savoie dismissed Caleigh Whitaker and Shanice Marcelle by sending 2-0 (21-15, 21-17) victory.
