Tomas Berdych, a fifth seed player suffered a serious blow in his attempts to make his way into the year ending Barclays ATP World Tour in London in the first round of the China Open Men’s competition on Monday.  
World number fifty one Michael Berrer, from Germany registered his second victory in fourteen clashes versus the top ranked foe with a gusty three setter win in Beijing. The final match score was 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. The clash concluded
in a time period of two hours and twenty one minutes. Michael, who was also a finalist to Marin Cilic at the PBZ Zareb Indoors earlier in February, withstood a total of ten aces from Tomas’ racquet for his seventh win in 2010.
Tomas, who is currently ranked number six in the world by the Association of tennis professionals is 440 points behind the world number five Robin Soderling, from Sweden in a quest to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour finals
in London next month. Berdych from Czech Republic dropped to a year record of 42-20 as a result of this defeat.
Meanwhile, the American tennis player Mardy Fish, who has an outside opportunity of qualifying for the calendar finale, overpowered Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia in two sets on Monday. The final match score was 6-2, 7-6(5). The
clash concluded in a time period of one hour and fifty three minutes in Beijing.
It was Mardy’s 40th victory of the year, which has seen the twenty eight year old capture two ATP World Tour trophies at the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis tournament, beating Olivier Rochus at the Atlanta Tennis competition,

John Isner, from the United States of America, who also received an award of the ATP Most improved contender of the season back in 2009, extended his ATP World Tour best tie-break record to 28-16 in 2010 after ousting his fellow
tennis opponent, Tsung-Hua Yang in two sets on Monday. The final match score was 7-6(5), 6-3. The clash concluded in a time period of eighty eight minutes on Monday.
In the doubles action on Monday, Florian Mayer and Yen-Hsun Lu missed eleven points on serve to overpower Tommy Robredo and Ivan Ljubicic in two sets. The final match score was 6-1, 75. The clash concluded in a time period of sixty
nine minutes in Beijing.
