2010 China Open: Sharapova once again endures an early exit, Ivanovic smoothly cruises past Olga
The Russian Tennis ace Maria Sharapova is battling hard to regain the lost match wining form. Very recently the 23-year-old once again suffered a crucial defeat in the China Open tennis tournament.
The recent defeat of Sharapova in the China Open is her second consecutive defeat which is a strong proof of her current bad playing form. The former World number one was beaten in her opening game in the Japan Open last week as well and her early exit from
the ongoing China Open has dragged herself into a state of despair.
Elena Vesnina thrashed the former world number one by 7-6 (7-3) 6-2. It is also to be remembered that the last year’s runner up Agnieszka Radwanska also endured an early exit from the China Open just like Maria Sharapova. The Russian Elena Vesnina will now
face Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland in her third round match.
The defeat and early exit from the tournament for the second time is not a good sign for the 23-year-old Sharapova as she has been struggling to regain her good playing form, and it seems like all of her efforts are going in vain. When she was asked about
her feelings after the match the Russian ace expressed her feelings very disappointedly and told the media that her current form is very disappointing and she is not performing well at all. She added that this is not the way she wanted to play, and she will
now have to work hard to clutch the best possible results.
The current season of tennis is proving to be a bit too tough for the Russian. When she was asked about the matter, Sharapova said that after the US Grand Slam she has not been able to practice and train in a better way. She told that lack of practice and
training has dragged her out of form, and she is very disappointed with her recent performance.
She said that she is out of rhythm and it will take her some time to catch back the right winning chemistry of the game. She added that she has won many titles in her career, and all she needs is to keep her nerves and focus towards the game.
In the other matches of the tournament Timea Bacsinszky qualified for the next round after her rival Victoria Azarenka of Belarus pulled out from the match due to a leg injury.
The second seed of the tournament Vera Zvonareva also made her way to the next round and she will now face her Russian compatriot Maria Kirilenko in the third round of the tournament. Zvonareva thrashed her German opponent Andrea Petkovic pretty convincingly
by 6-4 6-1 in a two-setter match, whereas, the Italian tennis star and fifth seed for the tournament Francesca Schiavone beat her Slovenian opponent Polona Hercog after a very easy battle. Francesca Schiavone won the two-setter match by 6-3 6-3. The Italian
will now face the un-seeded Vera Dushevina from Russia.
In an upcoming fixture of the tournament the Russian Elena Dementieva will face the former world number one Ana Ivanovic in the third round match. It is to be notified that the Russian seventh seed defeated the Japanese super star tennis player Kimiko Date
Krumm in a three-setter match by 6-3 1-6 6-3.
The former world number one Ana Ivanovic played brilliantly and outclassed her Belarusian rival Olga Govortsova by 6-0 7-5. After the match the Serbian expressed her feelings very excitedly and told the media that she is happy with the way she has performed
as everything went according to the plan. She added that during the match she was slightly out of touch but she is happy that she kept her nerve and ended the match in a victorious way.
