2010 Compuware NHL Premier Series – Anaheim Ducks win 3-2 against the Phoenix Coyotes

The 67th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premier Series saw the Phoenix Coyotes up against the Anaheim Ducks. The game took place at the Honda Centre, home of the Anaheim Ducks. The match saw around 14,400 fans come to watch the match this Sunday,
17th October 2010. The Phoenix Coyotes played in the 4th game of the campaign and the Anaheim Ducks were playing in the 6th game of the campaign thus far. The game saw both teams come across numerous scoring opportunities but
the teams couldn’t score as many goals as they could have. The Anaheim Ducks won the match 3-2 as they kept the winning run intact.
1st Period
The 1st period began with the home team come up with a few goal scoring chances but they couldn’t score. Not letting the opposing team settle, the Anaheim Ducks dominated play from the defence to the offence.
The Anaheim Ducks with the quick start to the game didn’t feel reluctant to go on the attack, as they had confidence oozing out with the backing of the home crowd and the win they registered last time out.
Neither of the teams could stop the plays that developed not because of flaw in defence but due to the quality of play up front. As the period progressed, the Phoenix Coyotes put pressure on the defence as well and they were on the verge of scoring in the
11th minute but the shot went just wide.
The period ended goalless with the Phoenix Coyotes making 10 goal attempts and the Anaheim Ducks firing 8 shots on the Coyotes goal.
2nd Period
The 2nd period saw the Anaheim Ducks start off quickly once again as they started to make extravagant play from the very start of the period.
 The hard work of the last period and the start of this period paid off as they scored in the 4th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Cam Fowler from 62 feet through a splendid wrist off. Taking the lead, the home team was asked by
the fans to push for another goal. The Anaheim Ducks responded to this call and developed plays that led to good scoring opportunities.
In the 10th minute, the Anaheim Ducks saw Toni Lydman in an open position with just the keeper to beat. The shot by Lydman went flying past the goal keeper from 13 feet leaving him no chance of scoring.
The period ended as the Anaheim Ducks established a 2 goal lead. The score was 2-0 and both games of the Anaheim Ducks came in this period after they made 14 goal attempts. The Phoenix Coyotes also came up with 11 shots but none was able to find the back
of the net.
3rd Period
The 3rd period was one where there was constant swing in momentum. The period started with the Phoenix Coyotes firing shots at the start that just went wide of the target. They managed to score in the 2nd minute through Scottie Upshall
from 18 feet when he hit a brilliant snap off shot.
Cutting the lead down to 2 goals, the Phoenix Coyotes continued to press on in search for another goal.  They managed to come up with some extravagant plays that saw both teams coming in open and scoring position regularly.
The Phoenix Coyotes were successful in scoring in the 12th minute to level the score. The goal was scored by Eric Belanger from 16 feet through a splendid wrist off shot. With the score all tied up at 2-2, the home team backed by the fans showed
confidence and nerves of steel making goal attempts on frequently.
They were successful in winning the game when 15th minute goal by Corey Perry won the match for the Anaheim Ducks. The goal was scored from 14 feet through a fabulous tip in.
The period and game ended as the Anaheim Ducks won the match 3-2. At the end, the winning goal scorer said:
"We came back and found a way to win and we'll take those two points," Perry said.
"We've just got to take care of our zone and we'll be alright."
"If you just check my stats from previous years, I haven't been doing that too much," said Lydman, who had four goals last season with Buffalo. "It's nice to put a couple in there. Especially when we win, it feels so much better."
