1st Period
The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Anaheim Ducks both made good starts to match-firing shots regularly. Neither of the teams scored during the course of period but they came up with splendid pieces of play and shots every now and then.
The Anaheim Ducks dominated the game for a few moments in the middle part of the period. But they changed their strategy after that in search of a goal. The change in strategy didn’t work for them as the Columbus Blue Jackets gained confidence and started
to show some decent ice hockey. Blue Jackets had the extra advantage of the home crowd backing them.
All the chances, plays and shots didn’t work for both teams as they went into the break with the score deadlocked at 0-0. During the course of the period, the Anaheim Ducks made 12-goal attempts they didn’t score any goals. The Columbus Blue Jackets made
numerous goal attempts out of which 10 were on target but they couldn’t score either.

The Anaheim Ducks scored immediately when the period began to make the match all the more exciting. The goal was scored in the 58th second and was scored from 12 feet quick worked shot by Teemu Sellane.
The home team preferred to form a tight defence rather than attack. They came up with a strong tight defence that restricted the Anaheim Ducks to almost nothing. However, the Anaheim Ducks pressed on in search of another goal. But the Columbus Blue Jackets
sealed the win when they scored in the 18th minute.
The goal was scored by the Captain Rick Nash as hit bullet shot that went flying past the keeper from 78 feet. The game period and the game ended as the Columbus Blue Jackets won the match 3-1.
"I think we did some things very well, but we made mistakes, too," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "Tonight our power play was good in some situations, as far as creating chances. But in the latter part, we just stood around and didn't really move and attack
the box. We got some shots, but everything was from the perimeter."
"I thought we played well," MacKenzie said. "Do we have room to improve? Yeah. There were a few parts in the game where we took penalties and those are things on some nights that are going to catch up to us. For the most part, the guys had a gritty, hard-working
game. We did exactly what we planned to do and we got the two points."
The Captain of the Blue Jackets said, "Yeah, it was unfortunate we got embarrassed," Nash said, referring to Friday's loss 5-2 against the Blackhawks. "The only way we're going to win them back is by winning games. That was a good start tonight."
