2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Anaheim Ducks win 2-0 against the Los Angeles Kings
The final game of Monday saw the Anaheim Ducks play host to the Los Angeles Kings. The match was played at the Honda Centre in front of 17,000 fans as both teams hoped to register a win this time out. This was the 352nd game of the 2010 Compuware
NHL Premiere Series. The Anaheim Ducks played their 26th game of the campaign while the Los Angeles Kings played the 23rd game of the campaign.
This was the only match of Monday. The game seemed to have started slowly as both teams didn’t attack, they played it safe and waited for opportunities to come their way rather than running after them. The main area of concentration for both teams was their
defence.
The defence was partially helped by the defensive mentality of the teams which resulted in very few goal attempts during the course of the period. Though there were goal attempts but from difficult positions or long range which resulted in no goals being
scored during the opening 20 minutes of the period.
The period saw neither of the teams capitalize from the few chances they got. The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles King both made 7 goal attempts each as the period ended with the score deadlocked at 0-0.
Although the away side made a strong start to the 2nd period, there wasn’t a lot of positive attitude in the game. It looked as if they were concerned about not conceding rather than going ahead.
The Anaheim Ducks on the other side had confidence oozing out of them as they went into the attacks. Although they didn’t make many goal attempts in the period, whatever tries they made were quite effective.
The Anaheim Ducks determination saw them scoring in the 13th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Cam Fowler from a flick shot. The period saw no further goals and ended with the home team leading the score 1-0.
The 2nd period saw the Anaheim Ducks making 8 goal attempts while the Los Angeles Kings made 10 goal attempts.
The final period was no different for the Los Angeles Kings as they started on a high once again but failed to capitalize from the start they got.
During the course of the period they constructed some brilliant pieces of play but couldn’t find the back of the net. The period saw the Anaheim Ducks come with the first real attack in the 18th minute which resulted in a goal. The goal was scored
by Jason Blake that doubled the Ducks lead and eventually won them the match.
The final period saw the Anaheim Ducks making 4 goal attempts while the Los Angeles King made 10 goal attempts. The Anaheim Ducks won the match 2-0 at the end of 60 minutes of play.
