2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Atlanta Thrashers thrash the Detroit Red Wings 5-1
The 310th game of the 2010-2011 regular season saw the Atlanta Thrashers play host to the Detroit Red Wings. The match was played on Wednesday at the Philips Arena in front of 15,000 fans as the Detroit Red Wings played the 19th game
of the season while the Altanta Thrashers played the 22nd game of the campaign.
The Atlanta Thrashers dominated the game right from the start of the match and came up with shots that almost put them in the lead. The goal keeper of the opposing team did a good job to stop the shots and the goal post also helped them on a quite a few
occasions.
However, the home team was able to break the deadlock with a goal in the 3rd minute of the match. The goal was scored by Chris Thornburn through a powerful strike that put the Thrashers in the lead.
The Atlanta Thrashers continued to pile pressure on the Red Wings, and as a result they doubled their lead with a goal in the 12th minute. The goal was scored by Andrew Ladd from a brilliant flick shot.
The Detroit Red Wings took the initiative to take the game to the opposition which resulted in a goal for them in the 13th minute. The goal was scored by Todd Bertuzzi that cut the lead to just 1 goal. The period ended with the Atlanta Thrashers
leading 2-1.

The 2nd period marked the dominance of the home team once again as they completed a period which saw them coming with a splendid performance at the end.
The Atlanta Thrashers worked hard to shut any chances of a Red Wings, and in doing so scored in the 2nd minute to take the score to 3-1. The goal was scored by Anthony Stewart. The goal attempts kept on piling up which saw the Atlanta Thrashers
scoring once again in the 17th minute. The goal was scored by Bryan Little through a powerful strike.
The period ended with the Atlanta Thrashers leading 4-1 as they made a huge 19 goal attempts in the period while the Detroit Red Wings was restricted to just 9 goal attempts.
The final period of the match was evenly matched if we talk about goal attempts. But it was the Atlanta Thrashers who scored in the 15th minute once again through Dustin Byfuglien’s powerful strike.
This proved to be the only goal of the period as the Atlanta Thrashers won the match 5-1. The final period of the match saw both the teams making 11 goal attempts but the Atlanta Thrashers was unstoppable and won the match.
