2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– Atlanta Thrashers win 3-0 against Montreal Canadiens

The 330th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Atlanta Thrashers play host to the Montreal Canadiens. The match was played at the Philips Arena in front of 13,000 fans this Friday.
The match was the 23rd game of the campaign for both the teams as they hoped for a win. The Thrashers were in good form going into the match compared to the Montreal Canadiens and showed that during the course of the 60 minutes to emerge victorious
3-0 in the end.
Both teams exploded at the start of the match firing shots every now and then and there was interchange of some very fierce ice hockey between the teams. The puck was often seen going to and fro on the pitch.
The teams couldn’t be separated from each other and with the strong pieces of play they came up with it looked as if a goal was surely going to be scored.
However, it was the Atlanta Thrashers, who scored the first goal of the match that put them in the lead. The goal was scored by Rich Peverley through a wonderful flick shot in the final minute of the period. The period saw the Atlanta Thrashers making 15
goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made 13 goal attempts.
The Montreal Canadiens made a few shots at the start of the 2nd period but they weren’t threatening and the away side didn’t benefit much from them.
Atlanta Thrashers settled into the game as time passed and with the strong attacks they managed to score in the 9th minute of the period to double the lead. The goal was scored by Tobias Enstrom from a powerful strike.
The home side continued to work hard and display some excellent skills with the puck. Their determination and hard work led them to scoring another goal in the 16th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Rich Peverley through a long range
strike.
The period was totally dominated by the Atlanta Thrashers after the first few shots by the Montreal Canadiens. The defence of the Atlanta Thrashers was as strong as their offence which restricted the opposing side to their half only.
The 2nd period came to an end with the Atlanta Thrashers leading 3-0 as they made 23 goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made just 4 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw a few shots from both sides but neither of the teams could score as the period and match ended with the Atlanta Thrashers winning 3-0. During the period both the team made attacks, but all of them were made after waiting
and after they found spaces. Neither of the teams attacked in urgency and the main concentration was in the department of defence.
The same strategy adopted by the teams resulted in the teams cancelling out each other and the match ended with the Atlanta Thrashers making 9 goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made 8 goal attempts.
