2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Atlanta Thrashers win 3-2 against the Nashville Predators after overtime
The Atlanta Thrashers hosted the Nashville Predators at the Philips Arena this Monday. The match was played in front of 10,000 fans who came to enjoy the match and support their respective teams. This was the 398th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL
Premiere Series with the Nashville Predators playing their 26th game of the campaign while the Atlanta Thrashers played their 28th game of the campaign thus far.
The Atlanta Thrashers made a good start to the match. Though it was not as explosive as they have been in the past but it was still very effective. The home team managed to come across scoring chances as a result. They failed to convert the chances into
goals. The period saw the home team backed by home fans who urged them to score.
It just didn’t seem to be their day. However, the Nashville Predators successfully scored in the 9th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Colin Wilson from a flick shot. The Nashville Predators continued to attack and scored once again
in the 12th minute to double the lead. The goal was scored by Steve Sullivan from a simple tip in shot.
The away side had a few more chances to score and further strengthen their lead but they didn’t score and the period ended with the Nashville Predators leading 2-0. During the course of the period, the Atlanta Thrashers made 7 goal attempts while the Nashville
Predators made 12 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the Nashville Predators continuing from where they left off in the first period. The away side came up with strong attacks and decent passing that got them past the opposing defence.
The Atlanta Thrashers found their game after the 10th minute and started to attack too. They scored in the 15th minute to cut the lead to just 1 goal. The goal was scored by Jim Slater from a powerful strike.
The home team had a few more chances to level the score but they couldn’t score and the period ended with the Predators leading 2-1, with the Predators making 7 goal attempts while the Thrashers made 14 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the Atlanta Thrashers making a strong start to the match. They scored in the 7th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Andrew Ladd from a spectacular backhand shot that went flying into the back of
the net which left the goal keeper with no chance of stopping it.
The period ended with the scores level on 2-2 despite the fact that Thrashers made 14 goal attempts while the Predators made 9 goal attempts.
The match went into overtime as a result where Atlanta Thrashers scored through Zach Bogosian from a powerful strike to win the match 3-2.
