2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Atlanta Thrashers win 5-1 against the Minnesota Wild

The 221st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played this Thursday at the Philips Arena, home of the Atlanta Thrashers. There were around 10,000 fans that came in support of their respective teams with the Minnesota Wild playing
in the 14th game of the campaign, while the Atlanta Thrashers played the 16th game thus far. The match was dominated by the Atlanta Thrashers from the start and they won 5-1 at the end.
Both teams made an impressive start to the match, made good number of goal attempts, and almost scored. Neither of the teams was content on opting for a defensive strategy and looked to be in the attacking mode from the very start of the match.
The home team was determined and confident to record a win on their home. Their chances of a win were helped with a goal in the 4th minute of the 1st period. The goal was scored by Ben Eager through a quick shot that was hit from 35
feet.
The Atlanta Thrashers continued with the dominating performance they showed and managed to score once again in the 14th minute. The goal was scored by Jim Slater through a spectacular backhand shot from 9 feet. The period ended with the score
2-0 in favour of the Thrashers with both teams making 11 goal attempts during the course of the period.
The 2nd period saw the Atlanta Thrashers carry the form into the 2nd period and came across several scoring opportunities. Atlanta Thrashers was successful in scoring once again late in the 2nd period in the 18th
minute. The goal was scored by Andrew Ladd through flick shot that was hit from 13 feet.
Though both teams came across several scoring opportunities but they were unable to score and the period ended with the Atlanta Thrashers leading 3-0. During the period, the Atlanta Thrashers made 10 goal attempts while the Minnesota Wild made 8 goal attempts.
The Minnesota Wild scored in the 4th minute as the final period began that took the score to 3-1. The goal was scored by Antti Miettinen through a simple tip in from 9 feet. The Atlanta Thrashers responded to this with strong attack which resulted
in a goal for them too.
The goal was scored by Freddy Modin through another tip in shot from 5 feet in the 7th minute. The Atlanta Thrashers sealed the victory with another goal in the 15th minute. The goal was scored by Nik Antropov through a quick fired
shot from 21 feet.
The period and the match ended with both teams making 14 goal attempts each at the end of the final period as the Atlanta Thrashers won the match 5-1.
