2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Boston Bruins host the Carolina Hurricanes

Both Eastern Conference rivals, Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes, will be up against each other for the first time this Friday. They are both scheduled to meet each other 4 times during the course of the season. The last four times that the teams have
met, the Boston Bruins have won three times including the last meeting which they won. The match was played on the 10th of April 2010 which the Boston Bruins won 4-2.
The Boston Bruins will be confident going into the match after they managed to win against the Florida Panthers 3-1 this Wednesday. On the other hand, the Carolina Hurricanes would be looking to get the pieces together and come up with something special
after they lost 3-2 to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.
The Boston Bruins have played 20 games so far, out of which they have won 14 games and have scored 26 points while their opposition has played 21 games winning 11 games and have scored 20 points.
In the last game against the Washington Capitals the Carolina Hurricanes came up with a dominating performance after they were trailing the Capitals 2-0. The goals scored by Sergei Samsonov and Eric Staal brought the Hurricanes right back into contention
but they couldn’t capitalize.
The Capitals scored once again to clinch the match in the final period and turned out to be a disappointment for the Hurricanes even though they performed quite well.
"I think our compete is pretty darned good," Carolina coach Paul Maurice said.
He further added, "We're still learning not to do the things that slow us down -- turning pucks over, not putting them at the net -- but at the very least, they showed signs that they can change gears if they have to. It doesn't have to be. If the first
10 minutes are not going your way, that doesn't mean the night's over. They can build some confidence and know that they can come back in games."
Mark Recchi has been the difference maker for the Boston Bruins. Though this veteran is 42 years old but when he is on the pitch plays like a young player just recruited. Rechhi has scored twice this Wednesday as the Boston Bruins won against the Florida
Panthers.
He reached personal milestones as this was the 567th goal of his career and took him to 1500 points becoming the 13th NHL player successful in doing so.
"It's pretty nice when it comes on a big win like that," Recchi said. "You get the two goals and it's two important ones and that makes it even more special
Coming to the statistics ahead of the match, the Carolina Hurricanes will be boosted after knowing that Eric Staal has scored 4 goal in the last 5 games played. The Boston Bruins on the other hand have Milan Lucic who also has 4 goals in the last 5 games.
The worrying thing for the Carolina Hurricanes would be that the Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas has allowed on 20 goals in 14 appearances so far.
The Boston may not be the strong team going into the match keeping in mind the recent form of the team but they haven’t lost consecutive road games thus far. However, the Hurricanes will give it all to catch up with the Boston Bruins attack and hope that
they beat the goal keeper to win the match.
