2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Boston Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers
The 646th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series will be hosted by the Boston Bruins as they will be hosting the Philadelphia Flyers. The match will be played at TD Garden and will be the first game of Thursday with both teams play the
43rd game of the respective season.
This is the third meeting out of the four meeting between the two teams. Each team has won one game so far out of the previous two matches. The first was played on the 1st of December 2010 which saw the Boston Bruins win 3-0 while the second turned
out to be a hard fought contest which was won by the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in the end after overtime.
The big story ahead of the match and much to the delight of the Flyers fans is that the Philadelphia Flyers haven’t lost any game in 2011 so far. Coupled with this is the fact that the Philadelphia Flyers are currently in the lead in the Eastern Conference.
The match will be all the more exciting as the Boston Bruins are in strong position ahead of the match looking for a third straight win.
This week has been a goals fiesta for the Boston Bruins as they have scored 10 goals in their last two games which took place this week. This first of this was on Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins which saw them trailing 2-0 going into the final period.
But they didn’t let out the nerves and scored four goals in the final period to win the match 4-2.
The second of the productive results was against the strong Ottawa Senators who they absolutely thrashed 6-0 in Tuesday’s encounter. All the front line players have been on the score sheet in these two games except Marc Savard. Savrad despite not scoring
worked hard and has assisted in a lot of goals.
"Four lines going," Savard said. "Kind of like that Atlanta game we had before Christmas. We had every guy doing what they do best, outplaying the guy in front of them, and ended up with a big win."
Coming to the statistics, Boston Bruins have played 42 games so far out of which they have won 23 games in regulation time while 7 more in overtime sitting in a decent position with 53 points. On the other hand, Philadelphia Flyers have scored 59 points
out of the 42 games they have played with 27 wins in regulation time and 5 more in overtime.
Danny Briere has been the star for the Flyers so far bagging goals and making assists in each of the games taking his tally to 22 goals with his last goal against the Buffalo Sabres. With the strong performance that he has bagged so far in the he was expected
to be a part of the All- Star team but unfortunately he was missing from the roster after which he came up with a splendid effort scoring a goal and making three assists against the Sabres. After the match he said:
"I don't think it (being left off the All-Star team) had anything to do with that," Briere said. "It was just one of those nights where I was getting the bounces and a good effort from my linemates as well. Scotty (Hartnell) and Ville (Leino) both played
a strong game."
The match will be a tight encounter with both teams coming across success and bagging decent performances.
