Another of the games that took place on 4th November 2010 was the Boston Bruins against the Washington Capitals. The match took place at the Verizon Centre, home of The Washington Capitals.
There were around 19,000 fans that came to support their teams as they played in the 180th game of the NHL regular series. Both teams came up with a good performance but it was the Washington Capitals that won the match 3-5.
The match saw both teams come up with extravagant pieces of play as they dominated play for little time periods. However, their offence and defensive strategies seemed to be the same during the course of the 1st period which is a reason why the
1st period was goalless.
During the first period both teams came across numerous goal scoring opportunities but they couldn’t score. The period came to an end with the Boston Bruins making 5 goal attempts and The Washington Capitals making 8 goal attempts.
The Washington Capitals keeping in mind the last period changed their strategy and attacked with all their men. This resulted in them taking the lead in the 1st minute of the period. The goal was scored by Tyler Sloan through a powerful strike
from 18 feet. The Capitals continued to attack and resultantly scored to double their lead.
The goal was scored by Mike Green through another powerful strike from 35-feet. The Washington Capitals completed their dominating performance in the period by a 3rd goal in the 18th minute. The goal was scored by Alexander Semin. During
the period the Boston Bruins made 6 goal attempts while the Washington Capitals made 17 goal attempts.
The final period started with the Boston Bruins determined to score and make a comeback. They were successful in scoring an early goal in the 4th minute through Michael Ryder.  A minute later they scored again to bag their 2nd goal
and take the score to 3-2.
The goal was scored by Nathan Horton through a flick shot from 58 feet. The Boston Bruins were successful in completing the comeback when they scored in the 10th minute. The goal was scored by Shawn Thornton from a backhand shot that was perfectly
executed.
However, their attack with all men forward in search of another goal to take the lead didn’t work. In fact it was The Washington Capitals, who took advantage of the open spaces that developed to take the lead. They scored in the 14th minute through
John Carlson’s shot from 57 feet.
The Washington Capitals sealed the win with a goal from Captain Alex Ovechkin through a flick shot from 21 feet. The game ended with this as the Washington Capitals won 5-3. During the final period, the Boston Bruins made 9 goal attempts while the Washington
Capitals made 14 goal attempts.
