2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: Boston Bruins unleash 7-4 misery for Pittsburgh Penguins

The 212th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at Consol Energy Centre, home of Pittsburgh Penguins with around 18,000 fans coming to attend as this was Penguins' 16th while Boston Bruins' 12th game of the
campaign thus far. It was a tough battle as the final period saw Bruins unleashed with their 5 back to back goals to record a 7-4 match victory.
Penguins started off in spectacular fashion with some decent goal scoring attempts. They were rewarded in the 2nd minute of 1st period with a goal that was scored by Arron Asham through a flick shot from 10 feet. Bruins also piled up
a few goal scoring shots and were able to score in the 9th minute to level with the goal coming of Mark Recchi through a decent strike from 15 feet.
Now with the score being 1-1, both teams pressed on. The period saw its third goal in favour of Bruins, scored in the 17th minute by Brad Marchand from 29 feet. Penguins responded to this immediately with a goal in the same minute to once again
level things up. This time, the goal scorer was Brooks Orpik who scored through a perfectly placed flick shot.
The 2nd period saw both teams change their strategies a bit and be more on the defensive side. This resulted in them cancelling out each other early on. However, Penguins put their foot on the gas and managed a goal in the 16th minute,
scored by Chris Kunitz from another well placed strike. Penguins' dominating performance continued as they scored again in the final minute to further strengthen their lead. Their fourth goal was scored by Captain Sidney Crosby as the 2nd period
ended at 2-4.
The final period saw Bruins explode as they bagged 5 back to back goals in those final 20 minutes. The first goal of the period came in the 4th minute from Nathan Horton’s decent strike. The 2nd goal came almost immediately in the 5th
minute and was scored by Zdeno Chara.
With the scores now level at 4-4, both teams started to attack but once again it were Bruins who scored in the 13th minute. The goal scorer was Shawn Thornton who scored through a decent shot from 25 feet. The 17th minute saw Blake
Wheeler bag another goal in favour of Bruins through a backhand shot from 11 feet. The final goal of the period as well as of the match was scored by Milan Lucic who scored from a powerful 32 feet strike, thus wrapping up a 7-4 victory for Boston Bruins.
