The 359th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Philadelphia Flyers play host to the Boston Bruins. The match was played at the Wells Fargo Arena in front of 20,000 fans this Wednesday. This was the 23rd game for the
Boston Bruins while the Philadelphia Flyers played the 26th game of the campaign.
Boston Bruins made an excellent start to the match as they came up with a very strong offence. The away side didn’t give the home team any space to work and settle. This resulted in the Flyers offence being completely shut in the opening stages of the match.
Coupled this was the fact that the Boston Bruins attack was very powerful that took them past the opposing defence regularly. The Bruins managed to score and take the lead with a goal in the 6th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Patrice
Bergeron from a brilliant flick shot.
The Philadelphia Flyers with the backing of the home crowd was successful in coming up with decent pieces of play but they couldn’t capitalize from the numerous chances they got. The Boston Bruins put the foot on the gas once again and successfully double
the lead scoring in the 16th minute.
The goal was scored by Tyler Seguin from a well placed strike. The period ended with the Boston Bruins leading 2-0 as they made 10 goal attempts while the Philadelphia Flyers made 15 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the team continue with the strong attacking mentality they had adopted in the previous period. Both team had several goal scoring chances but they failed to convert them into goals.
The home team almost levelled the scores from a shot that was destined to find the back of the net but the goal keeper made a brilliant save. The period ended with the Boston Bruins still leading 2-0 with no goals scored in the 20 minutes of play. The period
saw the Boston Bruins making 10 goal attempts while the Flyers made 16 goal attempts.
The final period was anticipated to be a very tough and interesting battle and it surely lived up to this. The home and away teams both came out fired up. One difference in the period was the fact that the teams managed to come up with a good defence as
well.
However, the Boston Bruins silenced the home crowd and sealed the win as they scored in the 19th minute of the final period. The goal was scored by Milan Lucic. The final period saw both teams making 10 goal attempts but it were the Boston Bruins
