2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Boston Bruins win 3-2 against the New York Rangers
Wednesday, 17th November 2010 saw the New York Rangers play host to the Boston Bruins. The match was played in front of 18,000 fans that came to witness the 258th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series at the Madison Square Garden.
This was the 16th game for the Boston Bruins while the New York Rangers played the 19th game of their campaign so far. The match turned out to be a very close encounter as expected that saw the Boston Bruins edge out in front winning
the game 3-2.
Both the teams made a great start to the period as they came up with strong attacks every now and then. The only thing that they lacked during the period was the lack of finishing. Both the teams had numerous scoring chances but they failed to capitalize
and the period came to end with the score deadlocked at 0-0.
The period saw both the teams firing shots from long and close range but none found the back of the net. That was one reason for no goals being scored while another was  the fact that both teams had adopted similar strategies that resulted in no goals in
the period. The period ended with both the teams making 8 goal attempts during the opening 20 minutes of the match.
The 2nd period of the game though was totally different from the prior as New York Rangers started off in spectacular fashion and managed to score in the 8th minute and levelled the score. The goal was scored by Brandon Dubinsky through
a decent strike to put the home team into the lead.
The joy was short lived as the Boston Bruins scored twice in the period to lead the match at the end of 2nd period. The first goal was scored by Milan Lucic in the 12th minute while the 2nd was scored by Tyler Seguin in the
17th minute.
The period ended with the away team leading 2-1 as they made 7 goal attempts while the New York Rangers made 12 goal attempts.
The Boston Bruins carried their form into the final period and scored in the 2nd minute to take the score to 3-1. The goal was scored by Mark Recchi through a powerful strike. From then onwards, the period was dominated by the New York Rangers.
They scored in the 6th minute to cut the lead to just 1 goal. The goal was scored by Marian Gaborik through a simple flick shot.
Despite coming across several scoring chances, the home team failed to score and lost the match 2-3. The final period saw the Boston Bruins making 5 goal attempts while the New York Rangers made 16 goal attempts.
