2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Calgary Flames continue with the ups and downs to win 4-2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning

Calgary Flames played host to the Tampa Bay Lightning this Tuesday at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The match was played in front of around 19,000 fans. This was the 404th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series with the Tampa Bay Lightning
playing their 28th game while the Calgary Flames also competing the 28th game of their respective campaign.
The Tampa Bay Lightning made a good start to the match with a few early goal attempts but they couldn’t find the back of the net. The Tampa Bay Lightning almost scored in the 8th minute but the shot went just wide of the goal.
On the other hand, the Calgary Flames also gained confidence and with the passage of time settled down. The home team managed to score in the 8th minute to take the lead. The deadlock breaking goal was scored by Cory Sarich from a long range powerful
strike that went flying into the back of the net.
The Calgary Flames continued to attack and scored once again in the 14th minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Tom Kostopoulos from a well placed flick shot.
The period saw the Flames making several more goal attempts but they couldn’t score and the first 20 minutes ended with the Flames leading 2-0. During the course of the period the Calgary Flames made 7 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made 10
goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the home team continue with the dominating performance. They scored in the 5th minute to take the score to 3-0. The goal was scored by Rene Bourque from a powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net.
The Tampa Bay Lightning started to pile up attacks after a very long time. They finally managed to score in the 9th minute. The goal was scored by Johan Harju from a decent flick shot.
Tampa Bay Lightning cut the lead to just 1 goal scoring once again in the 19th minute. The goal was scored by Ryan Malone from a superb long range shot. The period didn’t see any further goals. Calgary Flames led going into the break leading 3-1.
The 2nd period saw the Tampa Bay Lightning making 7 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames made 6 goal attempts.
The final period didn’t see much happening. However, the Calgary Flames sealed the match scoring in the 9th minute. The goal was scored by Jarome Iginla from a powerful strike. The match and the period ended with the Calgary Flames winning the
match 4-2.  
During the final 20 minutes of play the Calgary Flames made 6 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made 7 goal attempts.
