2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– Calgary Flames thrash Chicago Blackhawks 7-2

One of the shocking and goal fiesta games of Friday was the 280th game of the NHL regular season. The match saw the Calgary Flames play host to the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks.
The match was played at the Scotiabank Saddledome in front of 15,000 fans as the Calgary Flames played their 18th game while the Chicago Blackhawks played their 22nd game of the campaign thus far.
The defending champions made a good start to the match as they dominated the early part of the period without any trouble. They managed to score and take the lead with a goal in the 7th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Jack Skille
through a flick shot that left the goal keeper with no chance of stopping it.
The home team put the foot on the gas after this and came up with good healthy goal attempts. They were able to level the score with a goal in the 9th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Niklas Hangman through a powerful strike.
The Calgary Flames pressed on and with the strong attacks and hard work scored in the 13th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by David Moss from a spectacular backhand shot.
The period ended with the home team leading 2-1 as they made 18 goal attempts while the Chicago Blackhawks made 9 goal attempts.
The Calgary Flames continued to dominate the proceedings in the 2nd period and scored in the 11th minute to establish 2 goals lead to their advantage. The goal was scored by Jarome Ignila from a flick shot. Ignila scored once again
in the 19th minute of the period through a decent strike.
The period came to an end with both the teams coming across a few more chances. But they failed to score as the teams went into the break with the score 4-1 in favour of the Calgary Flames as they made 11 goal attempts while the defending champions made
9 goal attempts.
The Chicago Blackhawks started the final period strongly as they made early goal attempts but the failed to capitalize early on.
In fact it was the Calgary Flames who scored in the 17th minute to score their 5th goal of the match. The goal was scored by Brendon Morrison. The Calgary Flames scored 2 more goals in the 19th and 20th minute
to take the score to 7-1. The first goal was scored by Jarome Ignila while the second was scored by Curtis Glencross.
However, the Chicago Blackhawks scored a goal with 20 seconds remaining. The goal scored by Troy Brouwer was no more than a consolation goal as the Calgary Flames won the match 7-2.
