2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Carolina Hurricanes thrash the Ottawa Senators 7-1
One of the most entertaining games of Wednesday was the 261st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match was played between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Ottawa Senators in front of 13,000 fans. RBC Centre, home of the Hurricanes
was the venue for the match as the Ottawa Senators played the 19th game and the Carolina Hurricanes played the 18th game of their respective campaign. The match was totally dominated the Hurricanes as they bagged 7 goals in the match
to win 7-1.
After the few early shots by the Ottawa Senators, the Carolina Hurricanes started to make their strong attacks with venomous shots. The Carolina Hurricanes took the lead scoring in the 5th minute. The goal was scored by Tim Gleason through a simple
flick shot. The Hurricanes continued to dominate the proceedings and scored once again in the 11th minute to double the lead. The goal was scored by Eric Staal through a powerful strike.
The home team gave the Ottawa Senators absolutely no chance of settling down and scored twice in the 17th minute to take the score to 4-0.
The first of the two goals was scored by Eric Staal during power play through a flick shot. The 2nd goal was scored by Chad LaRose from a decent strike as the period came to an end. During the course of the period the Ottawa Senators made 5 goal
attempts and the Hurricanes made 14 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match saw the teams approaching the game defensively as they made 8 goal attempts each respectively. The chances that came in both teams way were rare and difficult and therefore no goals were scored during the 20 minutes
of play. The period ended with the Carolina Hurricanes still leading 4-0.
The Carolina Hurricanes scored in the 2nd minute of the final period to take the score to 5-0. The goal was scored by Chad LaRose. The Ottawa Senators dominated for quite sometime from then onwards and finally opened their account with a goal
in the 10th minute. The goal was scored by Daniel Alfredsson through a powerful strike.
However, the dominance was soon shut by the Carolina Hurricanes as they scored in the 14th minute through Eric Staal who completed his hat-trick. The final goal of the period and the match was scored by Tuomo Ruutu through a powerful shot in the
16th minute. During the final period, the Hurricanes made 6 goal attempts while the Ottawa Senators made 10 goal attempts. The match ended with this as the Carolina Hurricanes won the match 7-1.
