2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– Carolina Hurricanes win 3-0 against Boston Bruins
The 321st game was played on Friday between Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins. The match was played at TD Garden in front of 17,500 fans. The Carolina Hurricanes played their 22nd game and the Boston Bruins played their 21st
game as the Carolina Hurricanes managed to score in each of the periods to win 3-0.
The Boston Bruins were quick to get out of the blocks as they fired shots from the start of the match. The home side was cheered on by the fans as they attacked hoping to take the lead.
However, they failed to find the back of the net despite being in open positions on several occasions. They almost scored in the 5th minute only to be denied by the goal keeper. Another one of the chances they got in the 12th minute
should have been netted but the shot by the forward was horrific as it went wide.
The Carolina Hurricanes put their foot on the gas as the period neared its end. The Hurricanes were able to pile up attacks. This resulted in them coming across scoring opportunities. Unlike their counterparts, the Carolina Hurricanes successfully converted
a chance in the 20th minute of the period to take the lead. The goal was scored by Jeff Skinner through a powerful strike.
The period didn’t see much happening after it as both teams went into the break with the Carolina Hurricanes leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Hurricanes made 6 goal attempts while the Boston Bruins made 12 goal attempts.
The Carolina Hurricanes continued with their superb performance as they displayed at the end of the first. They got past the opposing defence regularly and got themselves in scoring positions. The Carolina Hurricanes were successful in doubling their lead
with another goal in the 12th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Tuomo Ruutu through a simple tip in shot.
The period saw the Carolina Hurricanes relax after this and concentrate on defence. Consequently, the Boston Bruins got some space and they started to attack. Unfortunately they weren’t as successful as the Hurricanes. The period ended with the Carolina
Hurricanes leading 2-0 as they made 9 goal attempts while the Boston Bruins also made 9 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the Carolina Hurricanes step up their game at the start of the match and the confidence in their attacks assured that another goal was coming their way. The smoothness in plays that led into attacks saw the Hurricanes scoring
in the 8th minute to take the score to 3-0.
The goal was scored by Jussi Jokinen through a quick fired shot that went into the net. Boston took advantage of the Hurricanes not attacking after scoring their third goal. The advantage was only to the extent of making goal attempts as they failed to score
once again.
The period and the match came to an end with the Carolina Hurricanes winning the match 3-0. During the course of the period the Hurricanes made 6 goal attempts while the Boston Bruins made 16 goal attempts.
