2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Chicago Blackhawks win 4-1 against the Anaheim Ducks

The 326th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the home of the Anaheim Duck in the Honda Centre. Around 16,000 fans came in support of the teams as the match was played on Friday. This was the 25th game of the
campaign for the Chicago Blackhawks while the Anaheim Ducks played their 24th game of the season.
The Chicago Blackhawks was the better of the teams at the start of the match but they couldn’t convert the chances they got into goals. The first period saw the Blackhawks try their utmost to score from long and close range but they just couldn’t find the
net.
As time passed in the period, the home side started to gain confidence. As a resulted they scored in the 17th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Dan Sexton through a brilliant strike from long range. The Chicago Blackhawks was successful
in making a few more goal attempts as the period neared its end but they still open their account.
The Anaheim Ducks led 1-0 as the teams went into the break. During the course of the first period, the Chicago Blackhawks made 13 goal attempts while the Anaheim Ducks made 7 goal attempts.
The Chicago Blackhawks continued to pile pressure on the home side as the 2nd period started. They finally managed to score and level the scores. The goal was scored by Duncan Keith from a flick shot. They continued the attacking mode for sometime
but realizing the fact that they left open spaces at the back they attacking less often.
Both teams were in no urgency to score so they waited for opportunities to come their way. This didn’t happen and the period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the 2nd period, the Chicago Blackhawks made 10 goal attempts while the Anaheim
Ducks made 9 goal attempts after a strong finish to the period.
The final period of the match saw the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks totally dominate the early part of the period. They scored in the 3rd minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Patrick Sharp.
The constant hard work put in by the Hawks was rewarded with another goal in the 6th minute. The goal was scored by Niklas Hjalmarsson from a powerful strike. The away side was eager to score once again and they sealed the match with another goal
in the 10th minute of the final period. The goal was scored by Troy Brouwer through a quick shot that caught the goal keeper by surprise.
The period saw the Anaheim Ducks dominate the second half of the period but they couldn’t score and the match ended 4-1 in favour of the Chicago Blackhawks. During the final period both the teams made 9 goal attempts each.
