2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Chicago Blackhawks win 4-2 against the Calgary Flames
This Sunday, the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks played host to the Calgary Flames. The game was played at the United Centre in front of 21,000 fans. This was the 393rd game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series with the Calgary Flames
playing their 27th game while the Chicago Blackhawks played the 29th game of the campaign thus far. Both teams performed well in the match but Hawks stronger attacked lead them to winning the match 4-2.
The Chicago Blackhawks made a ballistic start to the match as they fired shots on the net right from the start. The home team managed to come up with frequent attacks which resulted in them scoring in the 5th minute to take the lead.
The goal was scored by Bryan Bickell from a well placed flick shot that went flying into the back of the net. The Chicago Blackhawks continued to pile pressure on the Flames and kept coming across scoring opportunities. The home team’s offence and attacks
proved too powerful once again.
They scored in the 11th minute to double the lead. The goal was scored by Dave Bolland from a decent strike. The Hawks looked relaxed after the lead and didn’t take the game as seriously as in the first half of the period.
The Calgary Flames punished them for this scoring in the 14th minute to cut the lead to one goal. The goal was scored by Jarome Iginla from a well placed flick shot. The away side gained a lot of confidence from the attacks they made. They capitalized
from another chance they got and scored to level the scores. The goal was scored by Anton Babchuk from a powerful strike.
With the end nearing, the home team backed by the home fans attacked once again resulting in a goal. The goal was scored by Jonathan Toews from a good shot in the 18th minute. The period ended with the Hawks leading 3-2. During the course of the
period, the Hawks made 13 goal attempts while the Flames made 8 goal attempts.
The 2nd period was again a very fierce battle between the offences of the two teams. There were some excellent pieces of play. But the defence of both teams was able to cope with the pressure and no goals were scored during the 20 minutes of play.
The period ended with Hawks still leading 3-2 as they made 11 goal attempts while the Flames managed to hit 8 goals on target.
The final period was no different from the previous periods and attacks came in the teams’ way frequently. However, the Hawks sealed the match scoring in the 20th minute. The goal was scored by Dave Bolland from a wonderful flick shot.
The Chicago Blackhawks won the match 4-2 as the whistle for the end blew and made 8 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames made 10 goal attempts in the final period.
