2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Chicago Blackhawks win 7-5 against the St. Louis Blues
The 355th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the United Centre, home of the Chicago Blackhawks. The match was played this Tuesday in front of 21,000 fans. The event saw the St. Louis Blues play their 23rd game
while the Chicago Blackhawks participated in 27th game of their respective campaign.
The home team, Chicago Blackhawks was quick to start the proceeding and scored in the 5th minute of the match to take the lead. The goal was scored by Tomas Kopecky through a spectacular wrap around shot.
The defending champions playing at home had confidence flowing through them but the St. Louis Blues started gaining momentum and made attacks as time passed in the period. The away side displayed some excellent passing that caught the Hawks defence napping
in the 17th minute. The St. Louis Blues taking full advantage scored to level the scores. The goal was scored by Patrik Berglund through a flick shot.
However, the home team was undoubtedly the better of the two sides and they dominated much of the play. They showed this with another goal in the 20th minute to take the lead once again. The goal was scored by Partick Sharp through a spectacular
backhand.
The period ended with the Hawks leading 2-1 and they made 6 goal attempts while the St. Louis Blues made 7 goal attempts.
The 2nd period started off with the Hawks in the 3rd minute to strengthen their lead further. The goal was scored by Troy Brouwer through a quick fired shot.
The home team continued to press on with full force. Though they were caught on counterattacks a result of this but the defence played a vital role in not letting the opposing team score. The Hawks pressure saw them scoring two more goals in the 10th
and 12th minutes. The first goal was scored by Jonathan Toews while the second was scored by Evander Kane.
The St. Louis Blues pulled one back scoring in the 18th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Eric Brewer through a flick shot.
The period ended with the Blackhawks leading 5-2. The 2nd period saw the Chicago Blackhawks making 9 goal attempts while the St. Louis Blues made 7 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the St. Louis come out determined to score and get back into the match. The away side successfully scored in the 4th minute through Alex Pietrangelo. They pressed on and scored once again in the 7th
minute to cut the lead to just one goal. The goal was scored by Brad Boyes.
The Blackhawks didn’t want the match to go to overtime nor did they want to lose it. Therefore, they put the foot on the gas resulting in the home team scoring in the 14th minute through Partick Kane. The Hawks scored once again in the 16th
minute to take the score to 7-4. The goal was scored by Jonathan Toews who bagged his 2nd goal of the night.
The St. Louis scored in the 18th minute of the match with David Backes making a simple tip in shot but this was the last goal of the match leading to a victory for Chicago Blackhawks 7-5.
