2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: Colorado Avalanche win 5-1 against Columbus Blue Jackets
The 229th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw Columbus Blue Jackets play Colorado Avalanche. It was the 15th game of the campaign for both teams as they played at Nationwide Arena, home of Jackets this Friday with around
14,000 fans coming out to support them. Avalanche dominated the match except for the 1st period and won 5-1 in the end.
The home team made a good start with several goal scoring attempts early on that resulted in them scoring in the 5th minute to take the first lead. The goal was scored by Antoine Vermette through a perfectly placed flick shot.
Jackets responded with their strong attacks and frequent goal attempts, thus managing to level things up with a goal in the 7th minute. It was scored by David Jones through an 8 feet decent strike. The 1st period ended with the score
level at 1-1 as the home team made 9 goal attempts while Avalanche made 10.
The 2nd period saw Jackets dominate the early part. They fired shots and came up with some brilliant passing in the opening few minutes. But, it was the away team that scored in the 11th minute through Greg Mauldin and via a quick shot
that went flying into the goal.
Avalanche continued with their attacking mentality which resulted in them scoring once again in the 18th minute. This time, the goal was scored by Phillippe Dupuis through a simple tip in shot. Avalanche ended the 2nd period leading
4-1 with another goal in the 20th minute scored by Paul Stastny through a flick shot.
They made 10 goal attempts while Jackets made 12 during the course of the 2nd period. The final period saw Avalanche score again to finally win the match 5-1. The last goal of the game was scored in the 18th minute by David Jones who
bagged his 2nd of the night.
