2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: Columbus Blue Jackets 8-1 demolish St. Louis Blues
The 213th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played this Wednesday at Nationwide Arena, home of Columbus Blue Jackets with the home team up against St. Louis Blues. This was Jackets' 14th while Blues' 13th game
of the series so far. The home side dominated right from the start and finished 8-1, thus demolishing the away team.
Jackets had a decent start to the 1st period as they were able to gain control and dictate the proceedings. Their confidence as well as dominance were both rewarded with a goal in the 7th minute, scored by Jakub Varocek through a 12
feet strike.
Jackets continued to press on in search of another goal to double the lead. Their constant attacks resulted in them scoring once again in the 11th minute. This time, the goal was scored by Jared Boll from a backhand shot that went flying into
the back of the net. Jackets' third goal came in the 17th minute via their Captain Rick Nash who scored through a powerful 15 feet strike.
The 2nd period started with Jackets leading at 3-0. They continued with their performance of the last period, managing to score once again in the 4th minute. The goal was scored by Jakub Varocek via a spectacular backhand shot from
10 feet.
Finally, there was some response from Blues who scored in the 11th minute by BJ Crombeen through a flick shot. The home team also responded immediately and didn’t let Blues settle, scoring in the 12th minute to restore their 4 goal
lead. The goal scorer was Chris Clark who scored from 11 feet. Jackets wrapped up the 2nd period with another goal in the 14th minute. This time around, the goal was scored by Rj Umberger through a powerful strike from 23 feet.
The final period saw Jackets still hungry for more goals despite leading by 6-1. They scored twice in the 2nd minute to take the score to 8-1 with first goal coming of Chris Clark who bagged his 2nd of the night while the 2nd
goal of the period was scored by Antoine Vermette through a decent shot from 10 feet. The final period as well as the match ended with Columbus Blue Jackets winning by 8-1.
During the match, Jackets scored 8 times out of their 35 goal attempts while St. Louis Blues made 30 such attempts with only 1 goal coming of them.
