2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Columbus Blue Jackets win 3-2 against the Dallas Stars after shootout

The 400th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the Nationwide Arena, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The match saw the home team up against the Dallas Stars. Around 11,000 fans came to witness the match this Monday as
the home team played the 26th game of the campaign while the Dallas Stars played their 26th game as well.
After the first few shots made by the away side the home team started to come up with strong attacks and pin point passing that got them into scoring positions. The Dallas Stars could very well have scored in the 2nd minute but the goal keeper
made a brilliant save to keep the scores level.
However, it was the home team that scored the only goal of the period. The goal was scored by Kris Russell, in the 6th minute with a powerful backhand shot.
The period continued with the Columbus Blue Jackets displaying some excellent ice hockey but no more goals were scored, so it came to an end with the Columbus Blue Jackets leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Blue Jackets made 7 goal attempts
while the Dallas Stars made 5 goal attempts.
The Columbus Blue Jackets continued with the strong attacks that they came up with in the previous period. They came across scoring chances from the start but failed to convert any of them into goals.
The Dallas Stars put the foot on the gas and started to come up with some very strong and effective attacks. The away side successfully scored in the 16th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Brad Richards from a superb flick shot.
There was nothing much to talk about in the remaining part of the period as the scores were level at 1-1. During the 20 minutes of play the Dallas Stars made 5 goal attempts while the Columbus Blue Jackets made 8 goal attempts.
The final period saw the Dallas Stars continue with the form they displayed in the previous period and they attacked right from the word go. They scored in the 8th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Steve Ott from a powerful strike.
The Dallas Stars preferred to defend after taking the lead. The Columbus Blue Jackets attacked in search of the equalizer. The home team backed by thousands of fans finally scored with just 47 seconds left to level the scores. The goal was scored by Rick
Nash scoring from a flick shot.
The period ended with the scores level 2-2 and match went into overtime. The overtime saw no goal being scored but Kyle Wilson’s goal in the shootout won the Columbus Blue Jackets the match 3-2.
