2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Dallas Stars overpower the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1
The 349th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Carolina Hurricanes play host to the Dallas Stars at the RC Centre. The match was played in front of 15,000 fans this Monday. The match was anticipated to be a very entertaining
one and it surely lived up to it. This was the 23rd game for the Dallas Stars while the Carolina Hurricanes played their 24th game of the campaign.
Carolina Hurricanes was quick out of the blocks and with the backing of the home crowd gained confidence. The confidence was fully capitalized upon except from scoring. The home team made several goal attempts coming close to scoring every now and then.
However, time passed and the away side also came up with attacks. They also had several chances before they broke the deadlock in the 11th minute. The goal was scored by James Neal from a decent flick shot.
Taking the lead didn’t stop the Dallas Stars from attacking and they continued to pile pressure on the home team. Despite many chances for both teams no goals were scored and the period ended with the Dallas Stars leading 1-0.
During the course of the period the Dallas Stars made 10 goal attempts while the Carolina Hurricanes made 12 goal attempts.
Dallas Stars exploded as the 2nd period started. The passing that led into the attacks was absolutely flawless and the offensive line looked to score every time they went forward. The Dallas Stars successfully doubled the lead with another goal
in the 3rd minute of the period. The goal was scored by Steve Ott from a wonderful strike.
The Dallas Stars pushed forward despite 2 goals to their advantage. Their constant hard work saw them scoring once again in the 5th minute. The goal was scored by James Neal from a powerful strike that sent the puck flying into the back of the
net.
The home team was able to respond to this with good healthy attacks. They managed to pull 1 goal back scoring in the 8th minute. The goal was scored by Eric Staal from a simple flick shot. There was nothing much to talk about in the middle part
of the period but as the period neared its end the Dallas Stars put their foot on the gas once again. The away side made goal attempts at the end but couldn’t score any more goals.
At the end of the 2nd period, Dallas Stars were leading 3-1 and made 13 goal attempts in the period while Carolina Hurricanes made 5 goal attempts.
The Dallas Stars started the next period on the same level on which they ended the last one. They managed to score in the 4th minute to seal the victory. The goal was scored by Jamie Benn from a spectacular backhand shot.
Though the home team got tons of chances in the final period they couldn’t score as the period and the match ended with the Dallas Stars winning 4-1.
