2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Dallas Stars win against Ottawa Senators 2-1 against all odds
The 312th game of the 2010 Compuware saw the Dallas Stars up against the Ottawa Senators. The match was played at the Scotiabank Arena this Wednesday in front of 16,000 fans as the home team; Ottawa Senators played their 22nd game while
the Dallas Stars played the 20th game of their campaign. The match was predicted to be won by the Ottawa Senators but the power in the Dallas Stars attack was too much as they scored 2 goals to win the match 2-1.
The 1st period of the match saw both the teams start off the proceedings in a cautious mode. They were reluctant to go on the offence. They waited for opportunities to come their way rather than attacking and going wild and leaving open spaces
at the back.
The Dallas Stars almost scored in the 10th minute of the period to take the lead but the goal keeper stopped the puck just on the goal line to keep the scores level. The chances were rare and difficult but whatever opportunities they got, both
the teams came close to scoring each time.
The period didn’t see any goals being scored through the first 20 minutes of the period as the period ended with the scores deadlocked on 0-0. The Ottawa Senators made 6 goal attempts while the Dallas Stars made 7 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match saw the Dallas Stars start on a high and they managed to take the lead with a goal in the 7th minute. The goal was scored by Trevor Daley from a powerful strike to put the away side in the lead.
The Ottawa Senators responded to this with strong attacks too and the constant pressure they put on the Dallas Stars resulted in a goal. The goal was scored by Ryan Shannon in the 17th minute that levelled the scores.
The period didn’t any further goals and ended with both the teams going into the break level at 1-1. During the course of the period the Dallas Stars made 12 goal attempts while the Ottawa Senators made 8 goal attempts.
Both the teams were pretty much even in terms on shots on goal in the final period but Brenden Morrow proved to be the difference maker as he scored the only goal of the period.
The goal was scored in the 2nd minute through a powerful strike that left the goal keeper with no chance of stopping it. The defence of both the teams also got stronger as during the final period only 13 goal attempts were made. Dallas Stars made
