2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Detroit Red Wings win 5-3 against the San Jose Sharks
The last game of Tuesday was played between the Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks. The event was held at the HP Pavilion Arena, home of the San Jose Sharks. There were around 18,000 fans that came in support of the teams to cheer them to a victory
in the 357th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The event accounted for the 22nd game of the campaign for the Detroit Red Wings and the 23rd game for the San Jose Sharks.
The Detroit Red Wings were very well aware of the fact that if they wanted to win the match they had to get ahead of the Sharks as soon as possible.
This is exactly what they did as they attacked right from the start of the match. The Detroit Red Wings successfully took the lead with a goal in the 5th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Danny Cleary from a spectacular long range strike.
The Detroit Red Wings continued to attack and was determined to double the lead. They were rewarded for the positive attitude with another goal in the 9th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Pavel Datsyuk from a wonderful flick shot that
was perfectly placed. After establishing a lead of 2 goals, the away side decided to take the foot off the gas.
The home side finally got space to work on attacks. The Sharks capitalized from a mistake in the 10th minute and scored to cut the lead to 1 goal. The goal was scored by Dany Heatley from a decent strike.
The San Jose Sharks dominated the period thereafter but couldn’t score as the period came to an end with the Detroit Red Wings leading 2-1.
The 2nd period saw a positive response from the away side once again as they scored in the 3rd minute to establish 2 goals to their advantage once again. The goal was scored by Henrik Zetterberg from a powerful strike.
The San Jose Sharks immediately responded with a goal in the 5th minute. The goal was scored by Benn Ferriero from a spectacular backhand shot.
The Detroit Red Wings pushed ahead and the power in the attacks was too much for the home side to stop them. They scored once again in the 20th minute of the period through Patrick Eaves. This was the last play of the match as the period ended
with the Detroit Red Wings leading 4-2.
The final period of the match saw the Detroit Red Wings score in the 8th minute to take the score to 5-2. The goal was scored by Henrik Zetterberg from a quick fired shot.
The San Jose Sharks scored in the 18th minute but it was a little too late. The goal was scored by Ryane Clowe. The Detroit Red Wings won the match 5-3 as the final whistle was blown.
