2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: Florida Panthers 4-1 outclass Toronto Maple Leafs
The 214th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw Toronto Maple Leafs take on Florida Panthers. The match was played this Wednesday at Bank Atlantic Centre, home of Panthers in front of some 15,000 fans. It was Leafs' 15th while
Panthers' 13th game of the campaign thus far. Panthers came up with a decent performance which at the end saw them win 4-1.
The 1st period saw Leafs start off with a few good early shots. They tried desperately to score and in the search for a goal pushed all their men forward. This went against them as Panthers capitalized on the open spaces, taking the first lead
with a goal in the 8th minute. It was scored by Bryan Allen through a powerful strike from 56 feet. The period ended with Panthers leading by 1-0 while both teams making 7 goal attempts each.
Leafs were once again the quick starters in the 2nd period. Their attacks looked dangerous but to their disappointment, they couldn’t find an equalizer. Panthers were the team to again score a goal in the 16th minute via Steven Reinprecht
through a decent strike from 12 feet. The 2nd period ended with Panthers extending their lead to 2-0. During the course of the period, Leafs made 10 goal attempts while Panthers made 14.
The final period saw Panthers score in the 3rd minute to make it 3-0. This time, the goal was scored by Shawn Matthias through a flick shot from 14 feet. Panthers continued with their dominating performance which resulted in them scoring once
again in the 13th minute. The goal scorer was Michael Frolik who scored through a perfectly placed shot.
Leafs also got on the scoring sheet with a goal in the 14th minute, scored by Mikhail Grabovski from 30 feet through a spectacular power shot. With this, the final period as well as the match ended and Florida Panthers won 4-1.
