2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Florida Panthers host the Boston Bruins in the second of seven games
The Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers were scheduled to meet each other four times during the current season. They have already played each other once and the next game will take place tomorrow. Last season the Boston Bruins won both of the encounters.
This season both the teams have already met once on the 18th of November 2010 which saw the Boston Bruins win with a dominating 4-0 performance at the TD Garden.
One of the star players in the Boston Bruins line up Nathan Horton came to Boston after a summer deal saw him leaving the Florida Panthers. This amazingly talented player has managed to bag 18 points in the 19 games he has played so far and will be a vital
ingredient in the Boston Bruins if they are to win.
Horton couldn’t manage much success with the Florida Panthers as he was able to score only 95 points during the course of six seasons he spent there. Both the teams were defeated in the last match as the Tampa Bay Lightning won 3-1 against the Boston Bruins.
The Florida Panthers came back from a 2 goals deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins only to lose the match in overtime 3-2. The Boston Bruins are currently facing the problem of falling behind the opposition and then fighting hard to crawl their way back
into the match only to lose it in the end.
The Boston Bruins lost the game against the Los Angeles after trailing 3-0 on Saturday while they lost the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 after falling 3 goals behind. The second problem with the team currently is the fact that they fail to convert
their opportunities into goals even though they are the team with more goal attempts on most of the occasions.
"We've done that a few times this year where it would take 40 minutes to get ourselves going," Coach Claude Julien said. "It catches up to you. Forty minutes of no show and 20 minutes of desperation."
The Boston Bruins currently have 24 points after winning 13 out of their 19 games. On the contrary, the Florida Panthers have scored 18 points winning 9 out of 19 games.
The Florida Panthers main problem is coming during the power plays. They have failed to capitalize any of their chances with their record during power play being 0-25.
"The power play cost us the game again," defenseman Bryan McCabe said of the loss to Pittsburgh. "They get two, we get zero, had a bunch of opportunities. It's got to win us a game at some point. Right now, it's costing us games."
The Boston Bruins will be thinking about playing another star of the previous match in Tuukka Rask who stopped all the 41 shots of the Florida Panthers to keep the clean sheet intact. While on the other hand, the Florida Panthers would be delighted of the
fact that their goal keeper Tomas Vokoun has been scored against only 10 times in the last 5 games.
Keeping in mind the current situation, the Boston Bruins are looking in a good shape to win the match but given the long list of injured players, they are still in with a chance.
