2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Florida Panthers win 2-1 against the Minnesota Wild
The 230th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the Bank Atlantic Centre, home of the Florida Panthers. The home team was up against the Minnesota Wild in front of 15,000 fans this Friday. The home team dominated the early
stages of the match during which they scored 2 goals. The away team was able to bag a goal but rest of the match was evenly poised for both the teams as the match ended with the score 2-1 in favour of the Florida Panthers.
The Florida Panthers got off to a flying start as they fired early shots and came up with brilliant pieces of play that got them into scoring positions.
The Panthers broke the deadlock and took the lead with a goal in the 7th minute. The goal was scored by Chris Higgins. The goal was a result of an 11 feet flick shot that ending up into the back of the net, through the legs of the keeper.
The Florida Panthers confidence and determination enabled them to score once again to double the lead. The goal was scored by Mike Santorelli from 12 feet through a decent shot that went flying into the top right corner of the goal.
The home team established 2 goals lead to their advantage and were sitting in a comfortable position. However, the Minnesota Wild pulled one back with a goal in the 17th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Cal Clutterbuck through a flick
shot from 13 feet. The period ended with the Florida Panthers leading 2-1.
During the 1st period the Florida Panthers made 13 goal attempts while the Minnesota Wild made 8 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the home team dominate the proceedings once again with the Minnesota Wild coming up with a few shot during the period. Despite of the fact that the defence of both teams was not so strong neither of the teams was able to score.
The period ended goalless with the Panthers making 10 goal attempts while the Minnesota Wild made 5 goal attempts.
The 3rd period was no different from the 2nd period in terms of scored goals. There were no goals during the course of the final 20 minutes.
The period was different as the away team dominated the period in terms of goal attempts, plays and passing they displayed. During the period Minnesota Wild made 10 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 4 goal attempts but there were no goals. The
match and period ended with the Florida Panthers winning 2-1.
