2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Florida Panthers win 4-1 against the New York Islanders
The New York Islanders were up against the Florida Panthers this Saturday as both the teams played the 286th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The game was played at the Nassau Coliseum, home of the Islanders as they played their
19th game while the Florida Panther played their 18th game in front of 9000 fans.
Both the teams started off in a good manner making a few early goal attempts after which they settled down and waited patiently for open spaces to develop so that they could attack.
The home was able to exploit the away team and managed to score in the 14th minute of the match to take the lead. The goal was scored by Matt Moulson from a spectacular flick shot.
Both the teams had several other opportunities to score but they couldn’t and the period came to end with the home team leading 1-0.
During the course of the period, the New York Islanders made 11 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 9 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match was totally dominated by the Florida Panther despite the fact that the New York Rangers was only 2 goal attempts less than the Panthers. The away team restricted the New York Islanders to long range shooting and got
into the heart of the opposing defence to level the scores with a goal in the 3rd minute of the period. The goal was scored by Mike Santorelli from a brilliant flick shot.
The Florida Panthers continued to pile pressure on the home side and scored once again in the 4th minute to take the lead for the first time in the match. The goal was scored by Marty Reasoner from a decent strike.
The away side was content on not letting the New York Islanders settle and with the constant attacks they made; they were successful in scoring once again in the 7th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Mike Santorelli once again. The
period saw it final goal being scored in the 11th minute and once again in favour of the Florida Panthers as they led 4-1 going into the break with goal scored by Stephen Weiss.
During the course of the period, the home team 8 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 10 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw no goals with the Florida Panthers making 12 goal attempts and the New York Islanders making 21 goal attempts! The period and the match ended 4-1 in favour of the Florida Panthers.
