2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Latest – Boston Bruins win 4-2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins
The first game of Monday and the 628th of the NHL Premiere Series saw the Pittsburgh Penguins play host to the Boston Bruins. The match took place at the Consol Energy Centre with around 18,000 fans coming to witness the match. Mark Recchi, winger
of the Boston Bruins scored the all important third goal which earned him the star selection of the match while the Boston Bruins came up with a 4-2 win in the end.
Boston Bruins started off in spectacular fashion as they not only displayed excellent passing but also fired strong shots on goal. The away side dominated the first few minutes but the passage of time allowed the Pittsburgh Penguins to settle down.
Penguins with the time got stronger and stronger. Their offence and defence both got stronger which resulted in them making goal attempts regularly while the Boston Bruins weren’t able to get past strong defence.
Pittsburgh Penguins finishing was poor in the first period which resulted in the period ending goal. During the period, Pittsburgh Penguins made 16 goal attempts while Boston Bruins made 6 goal attempts but there weren’t any goals.
Boston Bruins was again the stronger of the two teams at the start of the second period. The away side dominated the game for couple of minutes but again, Pittsburgh Penguins were on top. As soon as the period entered the second half, Pittsburgh with the
determination and hard work scored to take the lead through Michael Rupp from a brilliant backhand shot.
A few minutes later, Pittsburgh Penguins with the brilliant combination managed to score their second goal to double the lead. The goal was scored by Kris Letang from a powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net.
Despite numerous goal attempts made by both teams, neither of the teams was able to score any goals as the 20 minutes of play ended with Pittsburgh Penguins leading 2-0, as they made 9 goal attempts while Boston Bruins made 13 goal attempts.
The final period saw the Boston Bruins turn the tables as from the start of the period till the very end they dominated the game. It took some time but the Boston Bruins scored twice in the 17th to level the scores.
The first goal was scored by Zdeno Chara from a powerful strike while the second was scored a flick shot via Brad Marchand. Boston Bruins with the strong offence created chance after chance and scored twice once again in the final minute to complete a dominating
performance.
The first goal was scored by Mark Recchi who bagged his second goal for the night while the second was scored by Gregory Campbell as Boston Bruins emerged as 4-2 winners of the match. During the final period, Boston Bruins made 13 goal attempts while Pittsburgh
Penguins made only 2 goal attempts.
